Why Geography?

I enjoy teaching Geography.  I have always been interested in why places are the way they are, who settled in different parts of the world and why, and why places are the same or different.  I want you to be able to pick up a newspaper and have an understanding about what is happening in your world.  I also want people to understand our differences and similiarities so that we can understand and help each other.

My Experience & Background
To let you know a little of my background.
I attended the following schools and received the following degrees:
Master of Science, Geography, Texas A&M University, 1982
Bachelor of Science, Educational Curriculum and Instruction (Mathematics and Geography), Texas A&M
            University, 1979
Graduate, Fredericksburg High School, Fredericksburg, Texas 1975
I have continued my involvement in Geographic Education by attending various workshops and institution such as the following:
Advanced Placement Human Geography Institute, Macalester College, St. Paul, MN, 1997
Summer Institute for Geographic Education and Leadership Training, Sponsored by the National
Geographic Society, Texas A&M University and the Texas Alliance for Geographic Education, 1990
Summer Institute for Geographic Education, Sponsored by the National Geographic Society, Texas A&M
University and the Texas Alliance for Geographic Education, 1987
As a Teacher Consultant and Trainer for the the College Board and the Texas Alliance for Geograhic Education I present workshops nationally and regionally and write questions for the Educational Testing Agence for various national exams.
From 1998 to 2002, I had the honor of being one of the original members of the Advanced Placement Human Geography Development Committee.  Since the first national exam in 2001, I continue to be an APHG Reader for the College Board.
